In 2023 I handed the baton off at Parkview Church in the South Suburbs of Chicago after 33 years as the Senior Pastor.
I’ll be honest… the first 10 years were hell.
I got the job by a 51/49 vote (yes that was still a thing), and the 49s didn’t go quietly. They were a “keep off our grass” kind of church. I thought the grass was there for everyone.
You get the picture.
33 years and 10,000 baptisms or so later, all I know is that I’m not done yet. Because the Church isn’t done yet.
I had a great run. I loved it. But what’s coming for the Church is even better, and I’m gonna go out giving the next generation of leaders all the lift that I can.
Because too many real people’s lives depend on it.
