About Tim Harlow
Tim Harlow is the senior pastor of Parkview Christian Church, a multi-site church of nearly 8,000 in the south suburbs of Chicago. Tim and his family moved to Chicago in 1990, when it was a church of 150 people in a heavily unchurched area. Now the church is an indispensable part of the community, made up of former gang leaders and business owners, ex-strippers and soccer moms alike, all who are excited about Jesus and involved doing ministry in the greater Chicago area and around the world.
Tim graduated in 1983 with a B.B.L. from Ozark Christian College. He also received a Master’s in Religion from Wayland Baptist University in Texas and a Doctorate in Ministry from Northwest Graduate School in Seattle. In 1984, he somehow convinced this hot young Ozark chick to be his wife, and Denise has been his partner in life and ministry ever since. They have three daughters and two sons-in-law: Rachel (Ash), Lauren (Tommy), and Becca, and recently welcomed grandson, Charlie, and granddaughter, Olivia, into the family.
Tim Harlow’s book, Life on Mission: God’s People Finding God’s Heart for the World, is a call to action for everyone who considers themselves to be a Christ-follower. His common sense, “one step at a time” approach to living out what Jesus describes as our purpose is refreshing and easy for everyone to comprehend. You don’t have to be a biblical scholar to live life on mission – you just have to love God, love people, and live that way.
Tim lists among his favorite personal achievements being kicked out of Willie Robertson’s office for having a girly beard, having Dave Ramsey hail him as the second most brilliant financial mind of all time (he may have been coerced), and when Brian ‘Head’ Welch from Korn ate steak in his backyard on Father’s Day.
